Laura Hollick Black Gallery

Working with black was surprisingly easy for this rainbow spirit! Laura’s art journey began by working with a lot of Black & White photography as a dancer and artist model.  Going back to black to compose this gallery was like returning to the roots of origin for this full-spectrum artist.

The Black Gallery features a collection of Laura art, costumes, photos, ceremonial rituals and dance performances from the past two decades.  It is fascinating to see an artist’s work over time as there are trends that cycle through, as well as constants that never fade. The thread of continuity through all of Laura’s work is the exploration of herself as living art.  You will see this same focus again and again through all of her galleries and the Black Gallery is no exception.

Embodying Black as an art medium deepened a darker primal energy within Laura and reignited her roots with sensuality and fertility. Explore the Black Gallery as if you are traveling through a dark mystery looking for clues. Notice what stands out and what fades into darkness.
